TCS - Psychometric Test Explained

Psychometric test is one of the four sections of aptitude test conducted by TCS during selection. Psychometric test contains 150 questions and are to be solved in 30 minutes. These are general personality based questions and are yes/no based. These questions test your ability to answer consistently.
These tests are devised by occupational psychologists and aim of such tests is to select most suitable job applicants.

Psychometric tests aim to measure attributes like intelligence, aptitude and personality. They provide the employer with an insight into how well you work with other people, how well you handle stress, and whether you will be able to cope with the demands of the job.



Psychometric testing is extensively used by most of the fortune 500 companies, IT companies, financial institutions and management institutions.
Psychometric tests are indicator of your personality and your preferences and abilities and these tests help the prospective employer to find the best suitable candidate for the company, who 'll perform well and fit into company's environment.

The personality psychometric test calculates the ability of a candidate on five scales:


  1. How Energetic a person is
    People who score high on this factor like to work in cooperation with others, are talkative, enthusiastic and seek excitement.

  2. How Structured a person is
    People who score high on this factor are usually productive, disciplined and single tasking. People who score low on this factor are often less productive, but can be more flexible, inventive, and capable of handling more tasks at a time.

  3. Worrying Tendency
    People who score low on this factor are usually calm, relaxed and rational. They may sometimes be perceived as lazy and incapable of taking things seriously. People who score high on this factor are alert, anxious, sometimes worried.

  4. Openness to Experience
    People who score high on this factor have flare to accept new things and are curious and sometimes unrealistic. People who score low on this factor are down-to-earth and practical and sometimes change obstruct.

  5. Orientation towards other people
    Cooperative and Submissive type of persons score high on this factor while those who score low on this factor may be competitive, challenging and confrontational.
