TCS - Sample Quantitative Aptitude Questions

Quantitative section consists of basic mathematics questions based on percentages, multipliation and simple equations. It consists of 15 questions and the time alloted is 10 mins. This section is easy as compared to others, but silly mistakes need to be avoided. Some of the sample questions related to quantitative aptitude are given below. These questions have been asked by TCS in previous years.



  1. "$" is for doubling the value "%" is for change of sign then what is the value of
    $%5-%%$3+$6…….A long expression similar to this one.

  3. Problem on a Venn diagram:
    Ex: a Venn diagram on no. of people who know only English, only French, only German, both English and French, French and German, German and English, know all the three.
    ->How many know English more than French?
    ->What % people speak all the three languages?
    ->What % people speak German but not English?

  4. Fathers age is 5 times his son's age. 4 years back the father was 9 times older than son.Find the fathers' present age.

  5. If 20 men take 15 days to to complete a job, in how many days can 15 men finish that work?

  6. A shopkeeper bought a watch for Rs.400 and sold it for Rs.500.What is his profit percentage?

  7. If Rs.2250 is divided between between A, B and C in the ratio 2:3:4, what is C's share?

  8. In a fraction, if 1 is added to both the numerator at the denominator, the fraction becomes 1/2. If numerator is subtracted from the denominator, the fraction becomes 3/4. Find the fraction.

  9. What number should be added to or subtracted from each term of the ratio 17 : 24 so that it becomes equal to 1 : 2.

  10. The cost of one pencil, two pens and four erasers is Rs.22 while the cost of five pencils, four pens and two erasers is Rs.32.How much will three pencils, three pens and three erasers cost?

In this question 5x-4=9(x-4)
x=8,
father's present age=40 yrs

its ans will be ((22+32)/6)*3=27

& q9 ans is also wrong
